INTRODUCTION

We Are Placemaking worked with Hammerson to produce the Esplanade Maze, with the addition of an urban treehouse in 2019. Our team worked closely with Hammerson on producing the event and delivered on design, health & safety and overall production.

CHALLENGE

This year, We Are Placemaking were tasked to increase dwell time within the maze and to create a more developed experience to enhance the 2018 edition. This lead to the design and installation of an urban treehouse space, for pop up activities. The Treehouse also provided a viewing platform for visitors to explore the maze from a different perspective.

Nick Morgan is CEO of We Group which is made up of three agencies: We Are Placemaking, The Fair and We Are OPS. He has over 25 years of experience across large-scale event production, licensing and health & safety within the public realm, as well as large-scale festivals and events, which attract hundreds of thousands of people each year.

Nick is a well-respected figure in the events industry. He sits on the High Streets Task Force as a mentor / facilitator and works with councils across the UK looking at void strategies. He also works with urban planners, advising on how to animate public realms for customers and communities.

Nick speaks on topics that include experience economy, government advocacy, placemaking, licensing and health & safety, at industry events including the Event Production Show, LAEOG, NOEA, The All Parliamentary Group for Events, and FestForums in the US, as well as at universities across the country.

The event sector is close to Nick’s heart, and WeGroup works with some of the leading global developers to bring their ideas to life.
